About Joan
Hi, I’m Joan Desmond
The posts discuss creativity from the perspective of a visual artist in order to give you insights into the process. My passion for creativity means I want to encourage everyone to find and use their imaginative muse. Live a creative life and the world will be richer for it.
I paint, draw, and design collages. I also love mail art. My web site is located at http://www.joandesmond.com .
There you will find an overview of my artwork, including an archive of past work, plus artwork for sale, a full biography, and exhibition history. Also sign up for my newsletter and download one of my postcards or bookmarks! Take a look at some recent work.
Do you recognize the sculpture behind me? It commemorates a sad event actually. But I’m standing in front of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena CA, and that is a good thing.
You can always contact me at joan@joandesmond.com.

Hi Sweetie, It’s in front of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena.
It’s titled “The Burghers of Calais” by Auguste Rodin and there is quite a story to it. It’s a duplicate bronze casting.
I’ll put this museum on our list of things to do when you are visiting in the future
