About Joan

Hi, I’m Joan Desmond

Generally, the blog posts discuss creativity from the perspective of an artist in order to give you insights into the process. Additionally, I will post art from the studio. My passion for creativity means I want to encourage everyone to find and use their imaginative muse. We are all born as inspired beings, it is our heritage, but many deny, forget or push it away, and often, unfortunately, that is cultural. Live your creative life and the world will be richer for it. Humanity’s growth depends on innovative answers in all fields of human endeavors.

I paint, draw, design collages, write poetry, create rhythm; a multimedia artist using any means at hand and believing that all creative expression comes from the same impulse.

My art experiences include participation in juried art shows, involvement in mail art calls shown internationally, and inclusion in international art collections. My art teaching history ranges from working with young children to being an instructor for drawing, design, art appreciation, and art history at the collegiate level.

Do you recognize the sculpture behind me in the earlier, top photo?  It commemorates a sad event actually. But I’m standing in front of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena CA, a museum visit! That is a good thing.

  1. wow oma… wheres that scuplture at?

    • Hi Sweetie, It’s in front of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena.
It’s titled “The Burghers of Calais” by Auguste Rodin and there is quite a story to it. It’s a duplicate bronze casting.
I’ll put this museum on our list of things to do when you are visiting in the future

  2. hey, thanks for the “like” … ! … @
